Tournaments

This is a list of all the WP tournaments on record. As you can see, things got pretty quiet after early April 2001... However, Macca, Crazy, Rho and Lut have all started running frequent tourneys now, and they have generally been very successful. Details of future tourneys can be found in the 'Open Chat' section of the forum.

Magewar Tournament Rules

There will be six rounds held on Magewar1.pud through to Magewar6.pud. For the first five rounds the entrants will be randomly grouped in threes or fours. Everyone will score one point for each game won. The final round is on the 8 player map Magewar6.pud and the best 8 players will play. The winner of this will score three points. The three medals will be determined by points.

Week of War

Weeks of War start at 6pm, Monday and end at 6pm on the following Monday. Games that are 1v1 or FFA that you play with clan members will count. All games will count unless they are non standard maps in which case all players must agree for it to count.

Only the first 1v1 game you play against an opponent all week will count and a win is worth three points.

FFA games are not limited to Wireplay members but to count there must be at least three of you and you must make up at least half the total number of players in the game. The winner scores one point for each Wireplay player that was in the game. You will not score anything for beating someone that you have already beaten on the same night, though you can beat them again in subsequent nights. There will be a one point bonus for the player in a FFA who had the most kills, whether they won or not. You may set up the game as a FFA or a melee but THERE WILL BE NO TEAMING. The only reason to use a melee is so that players watch when they're dead.

There is a form here for reporting results. Use it and don't just send me an email instead. Games will be reported by one player, it doesn't matter who. All games played will be posted on the site so everyone will see if someone is reporting fake results (not that you would of course...).

The winner will get a big cup instead of a little medal picture.

Crazy's SUPER-LEAGUE TOURNAMENT

There have been a lot of ideas lately on the forum for running different tourneys. People have suggested a league where you play a set opponent each week in home and away matches. However getting players to meet up for all their games would be very difficult. So instead I have come up with a compromise and will be running a one night 'super-league tournament'.

In the super-league each player will play 4 matches during the evening. For every win you get 1 point. The player who has the most points at the end will be the winner. Sounds simple? Well here's where it gets interesting:

1st ROUND: For your first match you be drawn against a random opponent.

2nd - 4th ROUNDS: After each round I will use the results to work out each player's current position in the league. The players in 1st and 2nd place will then play each other in the next round, with 3rd place vs 4th place, 5th vs 6th, 7th vs 8th etc... Where there are 2 or more players on an equal number of points I will randomly decide who plays who.

After ROUND 4 the player (or players) in 1st place in the league is the winner.

NOTES: Unlike a knock-out tourney this League system allows everyone to stay in (even if you lose your opening game you still have a chance of getting up to 1st). The system also means you will get opponents closely matched to your skill level. The best players will rise to the top end of the league, but even the weakest players will have a chance of winning games.
